“Our grandparents were close friends with Rex. It was my grandfather, Morris, who rebuilt the barn for the storage of the hand-colored prints that were sold as twelve-volume sets. Our aunt Marian and second cousin Elizabeth were among the apprentices who did hand-work in the painting of all those reproductions. I met Rex several times, going visiting with Morris, at least once when we rode horses together from our home to his cabin. And, of course, our family has always had some of Brasher’s birds to enjoy!”
